I have just obtained a 1958 10hp Johnson Seahorse outboard motor, are there any websites / clubs where I can get info on these old engines?
Links would be handy...

I strongly recommend the Johnson/Evinrude board of the iBoats forums for help and advice
http://forums.iboats.com/forumdisplay.php?f=24

The Reader to reader forum here at YBW.com is pretty useful too.
Also the Johnson Evinrude forum at MarineEngine.com http://www.marineengine.com/cgi-bin/discus/discus.cgi

In the meantime it should run on a 20:1 fuel mix. Ordinary unleaded and a 2 stroke outboard oil to TCW3 spec

http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/About.Us/FAQ/Oil.Fuel.htm?

Currently recommended plugs are Champion J6C gapped at 0.030" ( the nearest NGK equivalents are B6S)

Inspect the coils for condition and also clean & set the points (0.020" AFAIK) if there is any suspected problems with the ignition.

If you dont know when last changed or if any overheating is suspected fit a new water pump impeller.

Model number QD 19 ?? Manuals etc available from Ken Cook at http://www.outboardbooks.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=models.main&year=1958&ID=55327 Mayalso be available via MarineEngine.

Good sources of parts in the Uk are www.willsmarine.co.uk and www.outboards-direct.co.uk but I do not know the availability of spares either here or in the US for an engine that old
