Time to think seriously about sticking a new/nearly new 180-220hp petrol engine and outdrive package into Kelisha. This will replace the current volvo aq170c and 280 leg.
Anyone know any really good deals going ??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

180-220 petrol, that will be VP SX drive or Merc Alpha One drive.
I believe the transom cutout from a 280 leg is much bigger, that will be difficult !
the specialists on here will tell you for sure,

I re-engined our Holiday (MkIII) several years back with a 4.3GXi (220hp) and SX drive. It turned out to be not quite as simple as I'd hoped. Despite the adaptor plate for the 280-SX conversion, quite a bit of transom re-work was required. Also engine bearers had to be raised and there is now very little room between the top if the engine and engine hatch.
That said - I'm pleased with the result. Its transformed the boat, 'Instant on engine' was a novelty (the old V8 carb jobby was a hit and miss when starting) and she happily cruises at 20k at about 3100 rpm and 30k is achievable. Tempting fate here but the engine has proved reliable so far and more efficient than the old one.
There seem to be some good deals with this engine/drive package too. The Fairline Holiday Club proved to be really helpful in helping out with some of the installation issues and its probably worth having a look at their website.

Thanks for this info - that engine was on the list. have you got any pictures of your boat and installation ???
Who in the Fairline Holiday was the most helpful, as I know quite a few of them - we all went to the Fairline factory a few years back . . . and had a meet up the night before in Oundle

If I was you I'd talk to coastal rides.
I spoke to them about repowering my weekender and they offered a range of secondhand engines and engine/drive packages, in the 4-5k range.
Also you're in the right area and on a trailer so could deliver, twiddle thumbs for a few days, write cheque and collect.
If that's what you want....
