I am trying to find a mooring / hardstanding for c. 18mths starting this autumn. Boat draws 4'6", but I'd like to be as near Oxford as possible. I think Reading is closest i'll get with that draught.

Either in the water or ashore is fine. I am hoping to do a refit, so need access to water and power. If ashore, then cranage for 12 tons is needed.

Does anyone know of a cheap place to go. I'm used to mud berths on the East Coast, and don't want to pay marina prices!

Many thanks all :-)

It is probably going to be difficult to find anybody prepared to allow a 12 ton "project" to be kept anywhere that far up river and I think you may be in for a shock price wise.
Even down here on the Mudway long term rebuilds and less immaculate craft are being turfed out of boat yards in favour of more profitable and presentable stuff.

It may be easier and cheaper to keep the boat on the east coast and commute.?
Good Luck.

What about 'trailering' it to a location near your home.

OK it may cost a few beer tokens.

It would minimize travel to and from.

Inland hardstanding is probably much less (nearly typed cheaper) expensive than adjacent a river.

Might be more secure.

Size is 13' beam, 4'3" draught, 32'6" length.

Have wondered about trailering - but at 11 Tons, it will need quite a crane to get it off the trailer.

But does anyone know of any suitable off-river location near Oxford where this may be a possiblity?
