Advances in forecasting have made it easier for the recreational coasting sailor to avoid scary conditions, than possibly ever before... surely that makes having a boat make more sense than ever.

Encouraging you to buy a boat is in the finest traditions of this forum and it shall be a sad day indeed when we stop.

Now go buy a boat.

What would we talk about if he ever did?

Wandssorths timing :
When tales are of monster waves, doom n gloom, war, pestilence and uncertainties , it is a very very good time to put an offer in on the boat that Wansy likes the bestest of all imo! No better time in fact
( help me out here, there have been quite a few , can’t remember the good the bad and the brilliant ..)
🤞
Go on, you know you want to …🔱

We have to be tolerant of him. After all, he has probably never sailed in the Wallet.

They were a decent size at Nazare too, by the look of things:

You know when someone climbs the Eiffel Tower or a New York skyscraper, when they return to the ground the police are waiting to arrest them.....when these surfers get to the beach they also should be arrested

Arrested? Couldn't disagree more. It's not something I would choose to do, but the idea of punishing them for it is appalling.

(also, the fact that we don't keep reading handwringing reports about smashed surfers suggests it might not be as risky as you think, for them).

The only people who surf at Nazare are full-time professionals with support teams, sponsors and the rest. They don't just jump in and go for it, they fly in when the forecast is good, with photographers, videographers, drone pilots, jetski support riders, media managers and the rest of their entourage in tow.
