Has anyone found a source of UK BS1363 (13A mains type) plugs with tinned or plated pins? ...

In Post #9 the thread above I found a source of nickel plated plugs. The picture below shows the result of using a corroded 13A plug:

Now I need to replace the 4-gang trailing socket; the switches were rarely used, but I want it in black. I can't find any with the power inlet on the left!

Any suggestions?

surely you need one that's plated if it worries you that much, otherwise the socket will just corrode like the plug did. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not happening!

Seen this many times at work with 13 and 16amp connectors.
Usual cause is bad connection in the plug caused by using stranded wire without a ferrule and the screw cuts through the strands.
If of course it was a moulded plug ignore the above.

The socket stays on the bulkhead, the plugs get chucked in the bottom of a locker, sometime damp things follow them.

I checked the wiring in the plug, it was fine. The load was an electric drill, I detected a "brown smell" and thought the drill was packing up.

Two extremes on the suggestions so far: a white one (I'd really prefer black), and a lovely black one at over £100! :)

I believe that Brennenstuhl have changed their designs, as I bought one of these http://amzn.to/1nrRkQK and it was perfect in every way, but the most important: the inlet had moved to the right!

I've found a seller on eBay who says he has the older design, I will wait and see what I get. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271548521859

I find it strange that every lead I've found, white as well as black, has had the lead on the right. This didn't used to be the case, it was about 50/50.
