134 knots!!! and hitting a buoy!

especially considering what they hit, surely they had electronics on board that would have highlighted the proximity of the buoy. I don't know much about the methods of driving these boats but would imagine it would be someone else in the boat giving the helmsman instruction on such things whilst they concentrate on getting the most out of the boat

that said, yep, mental going at those speeds in those conditions irrespective of what toys are on board

I don't see a radar set anywhere on that boat.
It would definitely have helped.

But even with radar ... 100kts+ in fog is mad, imho

It is not mad it is literally criminal negligence.

criminal negligence - (law) recklessly acting without reasonable caution and putting another person at risk of injury or death

100 knots in fog is not reasonable.

Something of an understatement !

If he chooses to kill himself and write off his boat that's one thing - and probably the Darwin theory in action, but what about innocent people ?

Thank goodness he struck a buoy before he murdered someone.

I agree it sounds reckless, but is there a video or or link or something? I can only see the title of the op, nothing in the body.
