12v Webcam over 3G - has anyone done this?

As the title really, I'd like to set up a webcam (preferably with motion detection for winter security) to keep an eye on the boat.
Reasonable 3G network, 12v only available - has anyone done this and, if so, what do I need?

Not done it with 3G, but done it with a Satellite Internet Connection. You have a few things you need to decide... do you want stills or movies. Do you want to store any local images? (they may get nicked!)

I basically use something like this:

Think mine is powered via a 5V power supply (??Nokia charger). Easy enough to get a step down supply for 12V. (USB supply would work).

Connected to the Router which is connected to satellite.
If you used something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3G-WIFI-R...ard-for-Car-/262063440300?hash=item3d0432c1ac you can connect it. (May be more power efficient to find an option that allows an ethernet cable to be connected). This is powered from a USB Power Socket.
