Searched the forum and looked at various relay delay modules on-line but I cant quite find what I need ...

I need a 12v, 20/30 minute overrun timer module/relay that will run my engine bay extractor fan for 20 minutes when the ignition switch is turned OFF.
Having run once, I want the module to remain inactive until the next time that the ignition switch is turned on and then off.

I dont want the module to run the fan when the engine is running, I want it to come on for 20 mins once the ignition switch is turned off and the engine is stopped.
Hope Ive explained clearly enough - I cant get my head around how to do this
Thanks

Most time delay relays require power to make so I think the only way you will do it simply is to have a momentary (push to make) switch on the panel so when you turn the engine off just press the button and the relay will run for whatever period is set - as long as you don't turn off battery masters.

Sorry - Cancel my last !
I just remembered (honestly Graham) that I stop the engine with a momentary pushbutton.
I can feed a timer from that.
Thanks and sorry to waste the forums Sunday morning !

Years ago we designed a module for Sealine that ran the engine bay fans for 4 minutes on start up, then on shut down monitored engine temp and ran the fans till temp was below a preset value.

The idea was to cool the engine bay to reduce heating the saloon in hot conditions.

Is this what your trying to do ?

Pretty much, except Im not trying to vent petrol vapours from a petrol engine so dont need the prestart venting. (I have diesel). I'm happy to simply extract for a fixed time period after running - not too bothered about temp sensing.
Therefore a simple relay like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-H3Y-2-0-30Min-DPDT-8-Pins-Power-on-Time-Delay-Relay-w-Base-/290914448903?pt=UK_BOI_Industrial_Automation_Control_ET&hash=item43bbda3607 triggered by my engine stop switch solenoid feed would appear to be all I need. (May try and find a more "marine-friendly" version though)
