After having a recent rat invasion... has anyone got one of these or had any experience using a electronic rodent repeller , 12v or otherwise?

I have a white box that came with my boat called Guardianage. (www.guardianage.com). It has settings for a wide range of pests from insects up to deer! Basically it emits a high frequency sound that deters pests. It also has a PIR, strobe light and siren to work as a burglar alarm.
I was dubious to put it mildly but it is remarkably effective at keeping mosquitoes, wasps, flies out of the boat. Late last year I had mice on board and the instructions say it won't have any effect through furniture. Put poison down in the section of the boat they seemed confined to and left lockers open, cushions off but the poison wasn't touched. Closed the lockers and put cushions back and some of the poison was taken and the problem disappeared.
I have it mounted on the bulkhead opposite the companionway and get no problems with flying insects. Not bothered with the alarm and strobe as they seem rather feeble. It works from 12v / 240v / batteries but I just have it plugged into the boats 12v as it uses very little power. The sound doesn't bother me or my wrinkly friends but younger people can hear it and some are irritated by it.

Not rats, but my wife bought a similar looking device to scare the neebs two cats that see her bird feeder as a restaurant.

I took a nice photo of the two cats happily sitting next to it whilst plotting their next lunch.

Haha, that's a good one. I was using sonic repellents for mice and rats for a while and can say it worth trying, but only if it's installed around your perimeter, both inside and outside. Best choice for me - bromethalin and spring traps, just as this source says.
