Hi Folks,
I'm looking for the above to replace the manual bypass valve on my hydraulic auto pilot circuit.
When I bought my boat it had a retro fitted Vetus hydraulic steering system (two position steering and auto pilot) but I ditched the wheel steering and went back to tiller (reasons: no feedback, 6 turns lock to lock, shaky fitting of pedestal to cockpit floor, etc, etc) but I kept the auto pilot.

If the bypass valve is shut the tiller won't budge, all works fine except that it's a pain to have to manually operate the bypass valve. Tricky at times and therefore possibly dangerous.
I'd like to change this valve to a motorised or solenoid valve (normally open in case of power loss) and fit a switch in the cockpit next to the auto pilot. The valve needs to be able to cope with 70bar max.

So far I've drawn a blank, can't find one that can cope with the pressure and is 'normally open'.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Crispin.

What pressure.....Where are you????? UK...USA ... Timbutoo

There are many solonoid valves available but you need to select the correct type IE spool valve.

RS catalogue is one place and Hydrasun in Edinburgh or Aberdeen may also help.

If in the USA maybe Mcmasters.
