Hi everyone. Fosca is high and dry with most of the saloon interior consigned to the scrap heap.(It was bloody awfull).
What I am after is a supplier of interior lights, both wall mounted and overhead, pref' a nice traditional design but at a decent price, Also can any one comment on the white LED type flush fitting lights with a brass bezel.,
When I've seen them in the local swindlery they appear gray rather than white, is this just the result of only seeing them in a brightly lit show room?
Once the settee berths are reinstalled they will be beneath the side decks and I am wondering if LEDs set into the deck head would be bright enough to use as reading lights. Thanks in advance, Mike.

they have a blue white light, not what you might want for gen cabin light, not as bright as reg bulbs. i have several and can read, but would not want to for very long, and light needs to be about 12/18 inches from page for the ones i have. in red, they work very well for night vision.

In addition to normal stuff available from most chandlers, Here are some other alternatives.

Just for info. M. Joubert a leading French architect has specified for his own boat only one type of light throughout. This reduces problems with spares.

I re did all the lights on my boat not long ago as I didn't like the plastic ones it came with, about 12 lights in all. I got them from Index Marine (www.indexmarine.co.uk) as they seemed quite reasonably priced and had quite a good selection.

IMP of Roystan do a wide range of lighting. I flashed out (!) and bought "Frensch" as I liked their LED options and styling. Early days yet - but happy so far.

I am getting rid of the 12v auto-style bulbs in the cabin lights, but keeping the surrounds. I am using barrel bulbs from Ultraled... each one has four white LED's. I'll be using new bulb-holders, the same as used in my navigation lights.
For reading I use a halogen lamp which I put a second switch onto. This allows it to be used on 240v when on the pontoon or 12v switched to by-pass the built in transformer. LED's are ok for ambient light, but don't do the business for reading or working.
