I have held off buying a 12V flat screen TV for the boat hoping someone would bring out one unit with a integral DVD player and TV digital receiver/decoder. Does anyone know of any yet that are not too expensive.

Its a charter boat so laptops are not an option I need a fixed bit of kit!

Thumbing through an old copy of YM it mention chartplotter displays being used for TV when in port. I was unaware of this. Can anyone advise me if it is possible to use a Raymarine E120 display for TV and what kit I need to enable this?
Thanks

I have a Humax 17" widescreen with inbuilt digital, spec & quality are high and it even outputs power for an antenna booster through the coax without the need for a seperate power supply, Comet @ just shy of £400 if you're interested.

The E120 will accept TV inputs... I saw a camera plugged into it at Rowlands in Pwhllelli. I guess you need a tuner of some kind, DVD recorder, sattelite box, Freeview box etc. ? plus a sound system.

Cheers

Copied from the E120 installation manual:

Your E-Series display will support on-board cameras, DVD or video players etc. using
composite or S-Video source type. If you have an E-Series network, you will need to
connect the input source to the individual display on which it is to be viewed as video
images cannot be seen across the SeaTalk High Speed network. Your display is
supplied with a composite cable. If you require an S-Video cable, please order part no. E55062.

So, if you want to feed it with TV then you need an anolgue or digital TV receiver (terrestrial or satellite, with the appropriate antenna) and the correct cable for that device. See www.jgtech.co.uk for some stand-alone TV receivers.

Has 12v, actually comes with a 240v transformer droping down to 12v DC but regulated 12v supply is available. Also has loads of input output thingies including computer & RS232

Roger, I noticed this previous post which seems to be the answer to a maiden's prayer - you will need to sort out the connectivity with the plotter wanting input poss different from the output of the player. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You will probably need a composite to s-video converter (ca. £5- £10 )
