Looking for a time delay switch for use with a bilge pump. We don't use a float switch, we just want the bilge pump to run for a set period - say 10 mins - after we hit an on button.

Any ideas where I could get such a thing?

Why not get a pneumatic one, they are adjustable, just push in and set a suitable time. They are suitable for up to 3Kw on AC so should be ok on 12v DC.for about 8amps or so.Available at most electrical factors. I know City Electrical keep them.

I used to have one on a previous boat, for a fuel transfer pump. It was a bit like an old fashioned egg timer, with a manually rotated dial, and then it "Clockworked" down to zero, when it either switched off or on, depending on how you had wired it up. I'm sure if you Google for time delay switch, or similar, you'll find something.

Hi

I bought a couple a few moths back for my shower pump out
Round module aprox 50mm dia lcd display and 2 buttons - one for programming the off delay from 1 to 30 mins and the other for on and manual off - Im down the boat this weekend and will let you know where they came from

I use an interior light delay relay from a car.
gives me about 30 secs at push of the button, or a delay of 30 secs after float switch has flopped back, to cut down cycling.
Also allows short thick wiring from battery to pump, and thinner cheaper stuff to the panel and button etc.
