11th circumnavigation by 81 year old almost complete

That's a great achievement. I'm in awe of such guys, especially at 81 years of age.
I did notice one sign of the times. He was forced to use paper charts and a pencil at one stage when his electronic charts failed, as if they are inferior ?

Amazing achievement?
Though not really sign of the times, these days most ocean cruising boats will likely have a spare tablet and laptop to turn on once in a while for a fix. He towed a tyre for a drogue instead of a jsd, not exactly this centuries tech.
Hats off to him though.

Sounds like a reworking of that old joke, "my grandfather started sailing 25 miles a day when he was 70. He's now 81 years old and we have no idea where the hell he is".

I feel unmoved by the effort. Why? Didn't he find anywhere he liked?

Speaking of 81 year old "world" sailors. After 100 days, poor Sven Yrvind had to give up his attempt to sail from Sweden to New Zealand in his homemade 18' boat Exlex Minor.

i kind of know what you mean,,, but i expect he has found quite a few , they say , it is not the destination but the journey , maybe he will agree .

Who was who said, when asked why he crossed the Atlantic twice, that the reason was "he didn't get it right the first time"?

It was one of the first small boat/Ostar guys.
