can't help with the wires, as you will have to trace them on the boat, but there are many references to the 11ac alternator on google with wiring diagrams which should be able to point you in the right direction.

yes ive been ploughing thru them but cant find a diagram showing what colours go to which terminal on the alternator???????

The Lucas 11ACR has (digs in memory) just two terminals. There's a big one, to which a big spade clip attaches a big wire going to the battery and a little one to which a small spade clip attaches a small wire going to the indicator lamp.

theres 2 spade, a spade which is bolted on, and a bolted one, 4 in total.
this gives a possibility of each wire going on in 3 places! can you dig a bit deeper!!

The main connections you want are the ones which emerge from a rectangular hole in the rear casing. I've thought a bit more, and I think mine had two big spades there (they're joined together, and go to the battery) and a small one (indicator lamp).

The bolted on one will be earths, I expect, unless one of them is insulated.

Here's a picture of the standard Lucas alternator plug (I got mine on eBay)

and here's a diagram showing the connections to it

Sorry about the slightly hazy memory - I converted my Herald from an LRD100 dynamo to an 11ACR alternator a couple of years back. This involved fitting an alternator plug to the original wiring and building all the required connections into the shell of a knackered dynamo control box, thus retaining the original loom and appearance.

I think, I am not sure by any means that the 11AC requires an external regulator whreas the 11ACR has the regulator built in.

That might explain why UBK syas the 11 ACR has only two terminals while the machine in question has 4

This might be useful

Main output should be obvious.

The other three are the connections to the regulator. One to the diode trio and the warning light, one to the field winding ( Via the brushes) and a negative ( ground ) connection.

Or convert it to an internal regulator.

Ah-ha. Thanks. I never even considered the possibility of an external regulator, since it's yonks since such things were made. OP, if it is, and if you can, change to an internally regulated one - your life will be much simpler. The second best modification I've made to my DS was replacing the externally regulated alternator with a modern internally regulated one.

I think we really need to see a picture of the terminals to go much further, though.

The OP has asked which coloured wires go on which terminals, and this obviously isn't a question anyone can answer, as we don't know what colour wire was used in the installation. However, if whoever's reconnecting it is capable of tracing wires, it should be easy enough. As others have said, there's lots of information on t'interweb. See this diagram for starters...
