100A terminal stud / windlass wiring questions ?
Hi,
The +12V lead from the battery to my Lofrans windlass runs from the battery to the solenoid, but there is no such connection for the -ve lead. It would be quite inconvenient to run the -ve lead directly to the motor so I am looking for something to act as a staging post. Does anyone know where I can get an M8 terminal stud capable of carrying 100A or so ? A water resistant / short proof cover would be nice...
While I am here, the solenoid has connections for direction switches with the +ve common between the switches being connected to the battery +ve and the -ve solenoid input to the battery -ve. The Lofrans diagram (see fig attached) shows the common +ve connection for the switches going back to the battery switch (before the cct breaker), but can it just be connected to the +ve supply input to the solenoid (after the cct breaker) or will that not work ? Can the -ve be conected to the stud terminal or must it also go back to the battery ?
Thanks,
Boo2
