Been having a tidy up and removed a pile of charts off the boat, mainly just south coast an northern France. Hell, the weight of the things, thought they might be a few pounds but weighed them:

2 stone - 28 lbs.

This excludes the eight pilot books and two piles of port information booklets and pull out charts from ancient copies of Yachting Monthly. Amazing how junk accumulates.

Once you start, it can become addictive…..

Before Christmas I too had a clear out of paper charts & pilots.

Then moved onto the dustier recesses of the book locker.

Then to the ‘spares,’ carried over from my previous boat - ‘just in case.’

And finally to the outboard. (I always end up rowing, for the silence, ease of beach portage & for fear of putting my back out, getting the Honda off the rail). This also cleared the cockpit locker of a Jerry can, an unwieldy tiller extender and the outboard bracket.

As a result Stargazer is floating plumb upright. Losing her long term 1-3 degree list to starboard (according to how full the water tank is).

An auspicious start to the New Year!
