1` 1/8th BSP die nut Where to buy or borrow

Re: have another measure up mate

This would be a last resort!

If you can't find the right die then try an engineering shop that can cut threads per inch on their lathes - simple job of mounting the tube and selecting the correct TPI on the lathe gear box.

As I said - Last resort.

Peter.

I've yet to see Dots and Melons, in Tillingham beaten by a peculiar thread size. Not only do they have all the modern stuff, they have a vast range of old agricultural engineering kit. Look them up in the phone book (cor, old technology!)

The thread form, pitch and depth of thread are identical bwtween nominal 1" and 6" (i.e. including 1 1/8").

If the propeller aperture is big enough, you can use a standard plumbers threader with 11tpi chasers and adjust the diameter to suit what is already on the tube. They are ratchet operated and the handle is removable.

Unfortunately, a 1 1/8"BSP thread implies a small propeller and consequently a small aperture. A plumbers threader is around 160mm in diameter over the protruding chasers. The other problem is that they generally have a guide bush some 150mm from the start of the chasers. You may not have sufficient length to accommodate that either.

Given a big enough aperture, any plumber will be able to oblige. Just ask for 1" or 1 1/4" chasers and wind them in or out to suit.

If you become really desperate, it should be possible to cobble a bush with a single 11tpi chaser held in a slot.
