It’s rated rpm @ WOT he “ NEEDs to see , and if can’t reach it sit down with the broker / seller and go from there .
But one step at a time .

Doubt the boats if MAN engined is this young with the full MMDS screens .@ Westermans ….there are 4 pages btw .EDC means the loads deadly accurate, there’s a sensor on cylinder 1 s injector measuring opening times , fuel flow etc

I cruise under 80 % load .American sport fisher forums say the engines last longer , or turned around don’t expire earlier .
Because i can follow there advise based on there experience I do .

You even get alarms for sensor error to boot , they appear as SE , in the left margin .Anyhow we are digressing .

The info and advise to the OP from my posts hopefully will help him .

@ MapishM :) Yeh it’s on the to do list the dash ….but lately iam veering towards OEM retro originality and basically putting it off because it suits the boat and I like the aged patena …..if that makes sense? I’ve Been hanging around classic [ valuable] car scene too long me thinks ! That little plotter does what it subtly says “ SUN “:btw = works , you can see it in direct sunlight.
I pads are useless in sunlight as we all know. “ if it ain’t broke …”:..etc etc .
I did go and look at boat shows at plotters but got bambozsled into submission, lost interest what little I could muster so left it .
Got a huge chart table and like paper and compass .

Like the OP said the beauty of a older boat is the DIY , do it up aspect …..if you have time on your hands .
The dash will be done one day .

Is not only that if you do it yourself you learn where things are and how to fix problems, usually things break down when you use the boat and this is when everyone else use boats, good luck finding someone to replace a bilge pump or fix a sensor on a passerelle in July around here. Or the guy quoting me 1.5 KEuro for replacing a 12v fridge (which then I bought new for 450Euro and replaced myself), even if I have a decent income I still find 1K Euro (tax free) a good pay for 25 minutes of work.

Covid also helped a lot in this sense, all my customers went remote and I went from 100+ flights a year to zero which means tons of added time available.

I find it sad that one individual now seeks to dominate most threads repeating again and again and again the same mantra about EGT and deadrise to which 99% of us have no Interest or need to fret.

Boats are a compromise and if you spend time on them ( I do) then space and residential amenity are important above almost anything else. If I wanted something as a mid life crisis that went fast then I would buy one, or just take my Willaims rib for a run. Does sea keeping play a part? Yes to some extent if it is truly terrible - but just like a car Clarkson may say it does not go round corners very well, but Mt Average going to Tesco at an average speed of 30mph with the odd motorway trip will not notice of care. He wants something he can afford, that he likes the look off and takes the wife kids and dog.

People buy boats for different reasons. Living on, day boat, going out for a blast, fishing, diving etc and if posters on here cannot accept that then they need to find another forum lest they will force away even more people than have already left.

Society in general is encouraged to accommodate people of all views, races, sexual persuasion etc and in the most part does a good job. However on a forum someone can choose to dominate with their own views with the apparent view point of " suck it up buttercup" or leave. Try doing this in the workplace and see what happens.

Many participants have indeed left or now choose to post far less than they did. The forum is only of value as the sum of its members. It has nil intrinsic value on its own. I have views on this but you are not allowed to comment on forum moderation.

I happen to own a Squadron 58. I have quite literally had the whole boat in pieces. I can still learn of course. Will I contribute further to this thread ? No. Why would I when someone else will come along and chant their mantra continually. I have better things to do with my day.
If I was buying a Sq58 I’d really like to read about how you take apart the a/c, dishwasher, helm controls etc, etc and that’s the sort of thing, written by an owner who’s done that, that used to make this forum so interesting. Real-life experience freely shared rather than restatement of general theory, however good.

I put my watermaker in my old s58 in the crew cabin loo which was unusable as a loo at least for anyone above 5ft. And i agree with Jrudge that a gyro is a game changer. Actually I would say the same for a watermaker, especially if you have daughters!!!! Not sure why mentioning an old member who contributed greatly to the forum is a crime but anyway.
