£900 Prelude to Marseilles

Good luck to him. Prelude is a nice yacht, but probably the last one I'd choose for such a trip. The cockpit seats will be crippling. I see he has a foam cushion.
 
I was expecting him to nut you on a couple of occasions, you piss taking b'stard.

I fitted one out in 1975 from a set of mouldings ( excluding the inner one) she was traditionally fitted out PXed her in late 77 for a set of Pegasus mouldings less the inner again

If I had no ties I'd love to do something similar.

Very little money it seems but he has decided to do something different with his life. Hope he makes it and enjoys it.

my thoughts exactly - although he had managed to fall out with the harbour masters at Wells and Brightlingsea last autumn when he was moving the boat from essex to Rotherham

You're a brave man, Dillo! Investigative journalism and all that. Love the boat, well I'm glad it's not mine but it's certainly a magic carpet.

Think the guy's grasp of geography in general was a bit tenuous to say the least.

Half of me thinks he should be locked up before he becomes a captain calamity customer of the RNLI, but the other half admires his optimism.

good for him for going for it

however, after talking to him about his experiences I can now see why I was often treated with suspicion when I first tunred up in harbours in the slug

which looked pretty much the same as his boat


now that I have the Minstrel then I get treated a lot better

better moorings, better places on the pontoons

the harbour masters are often unwelcoming to obviously impecunious itinerants in **** boats

And Mr A admitted that he stayed an Brightlingsea for five days and only paid for three

the look of the slug labelled me as a cheapskate chancer and was often treated accodingly by the authorities

at least in the early stages until my charm, erudition and intelligence shone through

or they checked me out on the web

now it is politeness personified from the get go

because I sail a more expensive boat

it must be great to own a Nick 33 and be treated accordingly with such luxuries as being offered the key to the showers

I met a young couple on the French Canals in Burgundy on a Hurley 18; they were perfectly happy, I went on board and found her a well organised boat with a place for everything.

They had sailed over from Devon and were making their way to the Med', busking quite successfully on the way.
