£70k to spend - what boat 32-40ft?

Wasn't a SS Martinique on one of Jez's (many) shortlists a while ago? If this is the boat I think it is then I just walked past it about 20 mins ago, it's on the brokerage pontoon at Brighton.

How about something different? Hardy Seawings 355 Must be worth an offer..

Actually I think I know the owner or used to know them a couple of years ago. I guess they may have sold it so maybe I don't /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It was an excellent boat and well looked after.

The Seawings is (for me) the only sport style boat I would consider and if they are as seaworth as the other Hardys it would be a great all rounder. The only down side for me is the outdrives but then I have never had a boat with outdrives so what do I know! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

It's been up for sale fro a long time so the owner may just be interested in a little negotiation..... 600 hrs on the engines that bugger all! shouldnt be anything wrong with them.??

Kad44s? I don't know for sure, but I should think you're still in the 30's WOT with those (against, I guess 36 with the kad300's, 38 with the d6-310's and 40ish with the d6-350's). Not a bad choice, and a load of boat for the cash.

I wuz thinking about servicing costs..... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The standard advice with the kad44's is that you mustn't skimp on the 200 hour valve service. The EBY website has got an error on it at the moment so I can't look at the ad again, but from memory was it 400 hours ish? So I should think that (a) you'd want to see a fsh including the 200 hour valve service, and if the 400 hour valve service hasn't been done, then that would be a point of negotiation. Also, it's been on the hard for a year so it would be prudent to do everything to the legs, and given that the boat is 8-9 years old, the heat exchangers are prolly due a clear out. The very worst that lot should be is about £4k I would have thought - and then you should have no further servicing costs for a couple of years. If it hasn't had the 200 hour valve adjustment, I'd prolly avoid.
