Re: *!&£$£\"*!! adverts

I've been using Popupstopper from Panicware.com, for a number of years now. I very rarely get any ads of any description. Its free as well. Highly recommended. It Does even stop legit site which use Http pop ups but just press/hold control before you hit the button.

What ads? A combination of Norton and AdAware does the trick.... can block some legitimate links, but a simple click on "allow" does the job.

Re: *!&£$£\"*!! adverts

Of course - we could request YBW to remove all ads and instead charge us a subscription fee...

I know ads are annoying - luckily my browser blocks most of them - but at the same time you can't really expect to get something for nothing. Personally they are a small inconvenience for a service I often find incredibly useful.

It's alright for you computer types - I only play with boats, not playstations!
What's a (an?) URL? and what would I do with it when I find it?
My organisation's IT section control EVERYTHING from our defaults in Word right through to the firewall and antivirus. They only occasionally let me loose on the internet and even then I keep getting messages that say 'Not allowed'.
That's probably why I'm one of the few who get the BMW windscreen advert.

Re: *!&£$£\"*!! adverts

Thanks for demystifying my computer! I've learnt more from Ships Woofy and yourself than I ever got out of our company IT Crowd.
And I can now read the article on the wreck removal. Progress!
