    beneteau 311

From memory the fridge is the lower right switch. Fortunately the pervious owner labelled them all correctly on our 311. the switch next to the power socket is for the salon lights on ours.

Md2020 cracked exhaust elbow and overheating. Which came first?

The Overheating alarm sounded when motoring at about 3000 rpm Head to wind and waves. turned before the wind and dropped revs. Alarm stopped. Exhaust water coming out of stern ok. a few minutes later, saw smoke from engine breather vents. once sails up, stopped engine. I found a crack Or...

    Mcmurdo PLB battery replacement

I tested mine for the first time in ages and the batteries are completely dead. They still have 9 months left on the “replace by” date. Now I wonder how long I have been using a useless bit of kit! Anyone else had this issue?

Can you change the antenna without dropping mast?

Thanks everyone. I had a look at the bnc inside the roof lining at the base of the mast and it “came off in my hand”. So from the comments I guess the best route is to drop a new cable as suggested. It was not the cost, but the unknown of dropping it through the mast as I have only ever...

Can you change the antenna without dropping mast?

The top half of my aerial with Wind indicator broke off in the high winds. Can I screw on a new one at the top of the mast or do I need to feed a new coax cable down the mast as well? If a new cable, can this be done with the mast up?

    Gas fitter covering Felixtowe area

Can anyone recommend a marine gas fitter to replace and test the flexible hoses on my beneteau in SYH? I had a Calor specialist in Norwich fit new hoses to the existing fittings and 1/2 leaked around his crimps! The fittings seem non standard, so would feel more comfortable with a local...

    Dtying Out at Woodbridge?

Went Alongside a few years ago. Finding channel in / out was tricky, but no real problems. I would go down at low tide and take photos next time. Tidemill suggested a donation to the mill in exchange for mooring. Agree with suggestion of plank to get ashore. We draw just under 1m. Go for it!

    Recommend a polishing machine

I used the same as VicS for the last few years - excellent for topsides and coachroof. (though I did cover a nice black porsche in the carpark next to the boat in white slurry..... ooops)

    Halyard Diverter

I had the same problem last season and had the fairlead diverter type riveted to the top of the mast. This helped, but did not solve it. I tried playing with the halyard tension, and again it helped, but I still got stuck when the wind was particularly strong and I really needed to furl...

    Levington entrance depth

I have noticed that the entrance to SYH has been a little shallow recently. I don't know if it has always been this way, but the last 2 trips happened to be at low tide and I was seeing 1.9m centre channel. Yesterday I had to move out of the centre channel, was still about 15ft inside the...
