Have you knocked out the spacer under the lower pintle? (Apologies if this was mentioned prior, but I cant see a pic with it removed.)
Drawing says 5 off screws, I can only see 3 removed?
My idle speed seems independent of the control lever position. It does seem to settle if I rev the engine, then drop to idle. I am thinking that the speed control mechanism could be sticky from lack of use. VP2001 engine. Is such a thing possible?
My problem is on a VP2000 speed control cable end.
The cable outer does not line up with the clamp Item 3, it is too far away, so I am thinking of making a plate to move the position of the clamp to the right of the bracket Item 1. The engine stop cable end has a simple clamp just like old...
The wiring on my VP2001 control panel has been changed, and the rev counter is missing. I acquired a second-hand panel with rev counter and I want to fit the rev conter. Unfortunately the Volvo-Penta wiring diagram in the manual is not very clear- the G connection from the rev counter shows...
Just a quick question on Volvo generic 2000 series rev counters. I presume that the connection G is for negative (Ground) terminal? There are also + and - connections, but it looks like they are for the light.
Old thread but I find esail to be very clunky. Details on how to use the winches and controls are very poorly described. Steam overlay is annoying. Would be nice if there was a decent tutorial demonstrating the controls. You can work it out, but it should not be such a pain.
Not easy to have technical talk in a foreign language.
So a bit more information. Supports my theory of major rigging tension loads on the hull as a starter.
The new info is that the hull was reinforced up to the forward end of the cockpit, and stopped there. Definitely a stress concentration...
Thanks folks. This resource is great, well worth the cost of my PBO subscription! Now I will stop over-thinking and get on with the job, despite the heat below deck in the Sydney summer.
Typing on pad does not work too well, so please excuse the rough original post. These are ss bolts into the ci motor main casting. They secure the water piping and the thermostat housing. Past experience with old car motors made me expect the worst, like sheared bolts. However, when I say...
I am in the process of cleaning out the cooling circuit of my VP2001. The bolts that screw into the engine casing came out relatively easily. When I replace them should I use something like locktite to stop them seiezing next time?

Dont knock slide rules. Using a slide rule you had to know how big your answer was going to be, and have a feeling for the numbers. Today many engineers rely blindly on their spreadsheets/calculators, and often fail to pick up rediculous error results.
High rigging loads place the hull in tension, and the deck in compression. Take a look at this link Tapio Lehtinen | Windpilot Blog EN
Tapio was concerned with leaks from through-hulls, so he made multiple bulkheads, with access from big hatches cut in the deck. Solved one problem, created...
