Having an issue with getting my ST2000 to follow the apparent wind and I suspect a NMEA messaging/bridging issue.
The system consists of Tacktick T120 wind sensor, T111 display, T121 hull transducer and T122 wireless interface.
The Tacktick network links to a Raymarine C97 MFD N2K bus via an...
Gentlemen ( and ladies ,)
I am delighted to tell you that the thread has at last been positively identified with the help of Tracy Tools ( I have no connection with them except as a customer .) I sent a pushrod and tip to them and they confirm the size is 11/16 18tpi right hand UNS. Yes, I was...
My VW Passat has one particular bolt ( just the one out of 30 or so ) which needs removing to get the sump off, it's almost 17mm but not quite, turned out to be an imperial head with a metric thread, manufacturers huh, go figure !
Anyhow, I'm sending the pushrod to a machine tool maker and see...
Ah, so your original statement is not that the charging wont work but a specific wind generator might not like the load it sees and can over speed ... that is an entirely different issue. Of course, if the wind genny needs a specific charger to work without breaking or excessive voltages etc in...
FWIW I was able to clean up the thread in the pushrod using the tap by pressing it hard laterally into the thread, the result is very good and smooth so it absolutely definitely is 19tpi but the 3/8 BSP tap is definitely under sized by a fraction. There is no way to use the die to repeat the...
Why ? I did it successfully for 4 years on our previous boat ... using diodes will sum the current without worrying which is the higher voltage. The controller has no idea what its connected to or any method to control the input, it just sees varying Volts and Amps.
It's definitely not 3/8 BSP but it is very close.
From my own measurements (which are unlikely to be perfect as I am measuring worn threads) comes out at:
Tpi 19
Major thread dia 0.670"
Minor thread dia 0.630"
Flank angle 55°
AIS is fabulous on long trips or away from the madding crowd but a positive nightmare in the Solent with so many boats transmitting the collision alarm just keeps going off. That said, in the fog and combined with a decent radar it is very comforting, I wouldn't be without one now.
a...
Been around a similar loop myself recently and eventually decided on the following: Mains charger and Alternator paralleled to charge starter battery. Victron MPPT solar charger connects to House battery. The two batteries are then connected together via split charge VSR relay. To add wind into...
So, I was excited this morning when the postie delivered 3/8 bsp tap and die from Tracy Tools. The tap screws easily into the autohelm 800 pushrod, but it is loose on the threads with some lateral play too. Next, trying the die on the thread of the extension, it simply does not fit and is...
