antifouling

advice from my lawyer suggested I place a notice below the water line warning that any marine creature taking up residence on my hull will result in procecution. Do you think this will work in this legal age we live in?

    Lifejackets and hairyplanes

Actually easyJet allow the carraige of personal life jackets and 1 spare cylinder as hold or cabin baggage as per Ops Manual part A General P9-8. I should think not all the check in staff know this, although they should.

    Smelly something

I have a bad case of smelly heads/plumbing. I have renewed the inlet/outlet hoses with a so called non pourus type which is supposed to supress smells, I flush the system thought before leaving the boat, but one week later the smell is back. The inlet water is black and quite foul when...

    vhf antenna connection

Make sure you have a good conection with the centre wire, solder is obviously the best but if your pin is one of the dry push in type, it will break down over a period of years. A poor joint can damage older types of radios as the transmittion engery cannot get up to the arial and therefore...

    Don't get snagged up!

Re: Nah .... Funny that, I recall an incident down on the south coast were the pots are laid with the usuall submerged bouys and trailing ropes that would snag a nuclear submarine, and guess what we picked one up. Whilst a crew member was over the side doing his bit, a fisherman came along...

    Wind generators

The trouble with solar panels are, you need sun, and lots of it. Not to much of that here in the UK, OK for those down in the med. Running the engine is a pain as I want to sail not motor. Wind generators will not suit everybody but at least I have the peace of mind that there will be enough...

    Wind generators

There is a beliefe that tying up the blades will cause the bearings to develope flat spots. I had a aerogen 2 for years and tied it up only when the weather was forecasting very high winds. I never had a problem with vibration. Someone nicked it the other month so I shall never realy know...

    snobs

Re: Are you waving or yodeling Claymore ? Now would that be a warm cup of whisky (with out an e) washed up from some where in Cornwall you would be indulging in whilst waving? My kids wave at anything that floats.... My Wife is usually flapping ( a more energetic wave) when she wants my...

    Hornblower - what a liberty!

I quite agree, I get a proper dose of reality at my work place, watching programmes like hornblower is a form of escapism, If I want the true facts and historical accuracy there are many books and programmes on satalite that will provide.

    Cigar Smoking Outside

Would that be the whiskey washed up on the beach and liberated by the locals, to be marketed as Cornish whiskey!!!! I enjoy a cigar, and yes I get moaned at. At least I get to enjoy peace and quiet with my smoke and a glass of proper whisky, just like the adverts.

    VHF licence fees

The only benifet that I see at the moment in obtaining a licence is that the agency will not confiscate my radio whilst it is valid. This is obviosly a ploy by the government to get people to pay a tax regardless as to if the monies collected are spent wisely!
