Moving the engine back to engage the saildrive

I have a dedicated pair of wooden blocks for supporting the saildrive and find that 3/8 socket extension bars are a perfect fit into the holes.

    The green flash.

Three things that seem to have made seeing the green flash more likely in my experience 1.No cloud on the horizon 2.A good size swell 3.Starting the sundowner rum punch early

Repainting Decks in a different colour - Looking for advice not done it before!

I used Sandtex over Interdeck after scraping off any loose paint. It adhered well so I’m not sure removal of deck paint prior to using Sandtex is necessary.

The OP wants to change the colour so maybe one 750ml tin won’t cover it?

Another vote for Sandtex. I painted over blue interdeck with cream sandtex. Sanded with coarse paper to remove any loose paint then two coats covered the blue. A third coat would have looked better though. That was 4 years ago and it’s still fine, but not as easy to keep clean as the Interdeck was.

    water maker filters

Probably better to have the carbon filter upstream of your 1micron filter. In my experience carbon filters can shed particles which you wouldn’t want on your Watermaker membrane.

Wherever you source your prefilters you should be sure they are polyester and not paper ones.

    Chain

Not bought from them but it’s cheaper at my local chandler in Lymington!

    Chain, Kedge and Gelcoat.

I also use a fortress with a rope only rode. In warmer waters I usually let out more chain on the bower before snorkelling off the stern with the fortress until I find a good spot to set it. The crew then motor gently forward until it sets and on my return I shorten the bower rode again. It...
