Batteries - dead or just resting

Sad to report they are deceased. Fallen off the twig. Gone to meet their maker. Ex. Pushing up the daisies. In Boot Hill. Ah well, it's only money.

Batteries - dead or just resting

The only load was the bilge pump circuit which is rigged outside of the main switched circuits. But I don't think the pumps will have kicked in, the bilge is bone dry.

Batteries - dead or just resting

Just returned to my boat after 18 months of lockdown and various other misadventures. Batteries flat. On investigation, seems there's a fault in the shore power lead - power is going at the shore end, but not coming out at the boat end. Are the batteries totally shot, or will they recharge with...

Long term live-aboard cruising on European waterways cannot be over for us Brits

My understanding: UK allows 180 days to any tourist visitor, with a requirement to leave after 180, but visitor can then immediately re-enter and get another 180 days, ad infinitum. HMG refused to seek to negotiate same for BritCits visiting EU27.

Has anyone done a long term charter in the Med?

Bear in mind that if you're a BritCit, you'll only be allowed a maximum of 90 days in 180 within the Schengen area. The Cruising Association is doing some campaigning to try and change this, but for now that's the situation.

    Jim Baerselman

Apologies if I've got a few details wrong - I was recalling it from the eulogy at the funeral service - and obviously recalling it badly.

    Jim Baerselman

Those of you with a longer memory will remember JimB who was frequent contributor here. I'm sad to say he is no longer with us, his funeral was held yesterday. Jim started out in the RAF, and graduated to become a test pilot, heavily involved in the development of the Harrier. Subsequently...
