I had aluminium window frames in my first boat, Vivacity 20’ these were ‘affected’ by brass fixings quite badly. I don’t remember a submersion just a very salty atmosphere.

Norman, I’m not too happy using copper with aluminium, lots warnings regarding copper antifoul paint on aluminium so I will give that a miss.
Alex, I could see no sign of any compound being used previously so I shall do the same. It goes against the wisdom...
I have to rebuild my D4+ after a service. I think the machine screws holding the lumps of aluminium together are stainless steel and I see no sign of any Duralac compound on them.
Should I use something to stop them corroding together or does it get too hot for the available compounds.

Good friends of mine have 24 and 12 volts circuits on their Dunkirk Little Ship, I think the 12 volts is for the electronic equipment. On one trip the newly installed n2k network failed. I was able to jury rig a 12 volt supply to the network which bypassed the box that converted 24 to 12 volts...
I replaced my Lewmar with Harken a few years ago. Lewmar had slot head screws but Harken used hexagon head screws which were held in place by the base plate moulding. These are 46.2 and the nuts are removable without dismantling the winch drum.
