Problem solved. Undid the nuts and removed hob. The bolts were fixed in place by locking nuts, invisible underneath, so no problems in replacing the hob. Just got to crawl into the space underneath and fit the new pipework and test point......
The nuts are nyloc so not easy to fit unless the bolt is held still. The heads aren't reachable from above as far as I can see so perhaps some special tool was used. I don't fancy trying to dismantle the hob as the two screws I did loosen were ridulously tight and it only takes one mangled head...
I have a simple two burner hob fitted in a metal enclosure. The metal reinforced flexible gas pipe arrives at the back of the hob coming up through the floor of the enclosure. The pipe is corroded and needs to be replaced. I can't reach the union between the hob and the pipe from the top so I...
I can't relocate the filter so I guess I can't argue with the requirements of the self appointed guardians if I want to play in their playground. But I wonder if I could sue the builder for fitting an item that is not up to a standard that did not exist in 1992 but is now being applied...
Among the many items my happily seagoing boat was failed on by the BSS inspector was having a fuel filter with a plastic drain plug. Is that a bit extreme?
Not commonplace unfortunately. The 10mm tails on the taps were attached to the 15mm pipework using reinforced pvc tubing and hose clips. Not surprisingly they had become detached. The pvc tube is the same as that used on the water tank so probably original, I can't believe it was this way...
Thanks for your feedback. It looks like I'd better take the full plumbing bag with me. Fortunately there's a DIY shop and a builders merchant nearby so some spares should be available. Fingers crossed for the next trip to the boat.
Toilet compartment has a hand held shower with a hose that pulls out between the two mixer taps. When retracted the shower head sits on a washbasin and is used instead of a tap. There is a leak somewhere behind the panelling that flows into the shower tray. I changed the freshwater pump today so...
Time has come to replace my Jabsco Par-mate 2.5gpm 25psi with a new pump. Offerings from Jabsco, Seaflo, Shurflo and whale are out there at a variety of prices. Opinions please on which make is best value for money, anything to avoid and best place to buy from.
The patination is a pale green patch on the rotor (?) below the section the brushes run against. It's visible looking down from the top and is on one side only. I can reach it with a long matchstick but it doesn't rub off so it's not something growing in there.
My side-power has been unused for a while and no longer whirrs, it just clicks. I've run through the documented testing schedule and removed the motor. The brushes are fine but it looks like there is some verdigris patination. Has anyone stripped down the motor to do an internal clean. I see...
Another problem. Unused for a while. Power is good, solenoid is clicking like mad for either direction but motor doesn't run so I assume a motor problem. Can I remove the motor from the bracket on top of the tunnel while I'm afloat or is that a recipe for disaster?
My 6 year old Maeco dd8l junior has been sat in a boat deprived of its power supply throughout the last cold wet winter. The boat now has mould problems and the Maeco don't run. It beeps 3 times when powered up, all the lights flash and then nothing. I tried leaving it powered up at home but...
