    Cowes week tragedy

Not sure that was such a good idea. In those conditions (I was out there) he could have ended up as a second casualty.

Use of engine due to lateness getting to start line.

RRS apply from the Prep signal, usually at 4 minutes before the start, preventing use of engines from that time. So what if somebody has not arrived at the start area, due to technical problems which take some time to resolve, then motor from their base eg a marina, to the start line and cross...

that's quite interesting - I am about the same size! How well do you fit in the cockpit with a full crew?

    31-34’ Racer/Cruiser

I don't know what is meant by the 'usual Hanse question marks' but I have friends who race a 312 to very good effect both in IRC and 'NHC equivalent' from time to time. Looks comfortable enough for cruising, if you are not too much above average build. A lot cheaper than a modern J, too.

    Hamble river escape

For one day of professional training, you could learn everything you need to know about the tides all the way to the North Sea and assistance to get out of the Hamble by somebody who knows the area well.

Most popular one-design in the UK?

I'm sure you're right about XOD's, there are over 30 just in Lymington but probably a bit sluggish for what the OP seems to desire. Others have dissed the J80 which is also growing fast, with over 15 now and their own start in all club racing and events.

A slight correction, the LOA restriction has been removed recently, thanks to the MCA.

    Young Sailor of the Year

Thanks for all the feedback. Skippers are not too much of a problem thanks to all Pete's efforts through Halcyon, the biggest issue is teacher time. The skippers on Scaramouche need a teacher or two on board to take care of welfare, discipline, and safeguarding. The boys programme has...

    Solent Race Marks.

They'll all be in the same place, with the same identifier, only some of the sponsors names might change.

    Scaramouche - New Years Honours

Because there are parts of North London which are too rough for them to do as they please. You seem to have a problem with this, feel free to say what it is. If not, lets just move on.
