I used rivnuts for my gooseneck & bought a simple and inexpensive sliding wedge tool for clenching them up. The big advantage of the rivnut system is that the fixings can be removed if required without drilling etc. Suggest an ebay search for "Rivnuts"

Battens aren't tapered so I don't think that's the issue, but thanks anyway.

Can anyone suggest why the top telltale on my mainsail flys well when beating only on the port tack? On starboard tack it disappears behind the sail. The other telltales fly perfectly on both tacks. Main sheet traveller settings are the same on both tacks. It's a mystery!
