I was up that way in Motorhome just over a week ago. Beneteau ST 52was going through at the time (slowly). No one on board was getting off to help at the locks so the guy from the canal was very busy ! it did have stern as well as bow thrusters which was needed due to the wind/ windage. Think it...
In the first picture when you zoom in it looks like an old wooden upright pile just behind the stern. I would think that may well have caused the damage to the stern ?
If passing through the Crinan canal there is an excellent anchorage (and free moorings) off the Ottercatcher pub a couple of miles north up Loch Fyne.
From memory the moorings have a suggested donation of £10. But not compulsory. Think there was an honesty box. Was a couple of years ago though.
Well from that and more up to date reports it may be that both stories are correct. Perhaps he was one of the paddle boarders that was not in difficulty but then attempted bravely to rescue some of those that were. Only speculation. Sad day either way.
Which prompted a fit ex-Royal Engineer, Paul O'Dwyer to jump in and try to save them. Tragically, he perished alongside them.
From the reports I have seen Paul O'Dwyer is quoted as being one of the paddle boarders. Either way still a very sad accident.
'no interest in forward V cabins due wavelet noise'
With many modern boats you will also get the wavelet slap in the aft cabin - just in case you didn't realise !
Pity it wasn't a Beneteau 473 you have as I have a mast up cover for one sitting in my garage. Far to big for you though . For that size certainly in the thousands new.
Had a burst tube on a 2003 once. When engine was running at higher revs pressure was greatest in the raw side and so water went from raw to fresh side and resulted in excess water overfilling that and dumping into bilge. At other times at low revs or perhaps when stopped it went the other way...
Jonic's site looks a cut above, along with its boats. Hopefully something
like that lovely Vancouver Pilot will be coming along.
Thought you meant the Vancouver 38 Pilot that Jonic had in 2018 for just under 120k but it isn't listed anymore. Just as well as it is currently under offer in...
Had similar issue with same engine but the non turbo version. Was a very long time ago so may have some of the details wrong.
Off up west coast on holiday and expansion bottle levels all over the place. At times it was over full but mostly went low then empty. Was told to expect cylinder head...
I agree with Largs. Best place to sail from with most shelter when leaving, best choice of destinations in easy reach, good shoreside facilities and nice coastal path walk into town.
