The 'fast' version of West System needs about 5hrs to reach a solid cure.
I'm looking for something that has similar properties (including being runny enough to soak in to wood) but has, ideally, a <1hr cure time.
Any suggestions?
Yup. I nearly binned the whole lithium project because I was struggling to get my head around the engine charging side of it. So I decided to charge off solar only, which saved me a lot of money and hassle. Works brilliantly.
If you expect to rely heavily on engine charging then you'd be much better off fitting a suitable regulator to the alternator (and possibly a new alternator too).

A friend bought some 300Ah batteries and they were about twice the size of my DIY 280Ah one. I'm not sure what they put in the box.
Also, bear in mind that a 100Ah LFP battery has almost twice the useable capacity of a 100Ah AGM.
Boats aren't regulated like cars are- the equivalent of a V5 would be the SSR, but it's not necessary to have one. Likewise insurance, sometimes marinas will expect you to have this (if you sink in the entrance to a harbour and block it, you could be facing a hefty bill for wreck removal) but...
My JBD BMS has a pretty small balance current, measured in milliamps. The JK does a whole 2A.
Having said that, I've only needed to manually rebalance one of my batteries once, and that was more than two years ago. It's likely that I didn't do a good enough job first time round, or possibly...
