Alternative to Hydrochloric acid for removing barnacles and tube worm casings

I went to Wickes this morning to get 5l of their brick cleaner. On the side of the can it states that it should not be used Stainless Steel. What could be the consequences of using it on my SS props? I'm curious because I know various forumites recommend it.

Ideas for my 40th (boat holiday)

Take a look at Cape Coral Florida..... We've been for the past three years and each time we seem to have more fun. Cape Coral is a water based residential community within easy access to the Gulf of Mexico and the intercoastal waterway. We hire a typical Floridian villa for a couple of weeks...

    Paddlewheel tranduscer...

Am I correct in thinking that the paddlewheel transducer can only measure speed??.....i.e. it would not have been installed for any other purpose.

    Paddlewheel tranduscer...

If a sportsboat boat is fitted with a paddlewheel style thru-hull transducer (which I assume measures speed via its rotation) does that mean that the usual method of measuring speed via the small hole on the outdrives and the associated small pipe that connects to the lower unit become redundant?

    EU 45

I've used it on my sports cruiser for the past two years with excellent results. Each year when she is lifted out the marina staff ask me what antifoul I use because they can believe how clean she is.

    Recovering SC35 cockpit upholstery

I'm not looking to radically change the colour of the fabric or the appearance of the cockpit. The aim is to upgrade the quality and appearance of the upholstery in a way that is in keeping with the original Sealine design. Matching the new fabric to the Sealine upgrade option is a very good...

    Recovering SC35 cockpit upholstery

There is nothing wrong with the original factory fabric, however it can have a tendency to stretch a little. Personally I find Vinyl more durable, easier to maintain and easier to dry if you suffer from SBS.

    Recovering SC35 cockpit upholstery

Hi, does anyone have any thoughts on how much it would cost to recover the fabric seating in an SC35 cockpit with a vinyl covering? Thanks in advance...

    Considering buying my first flybridge.....

Apologies for the radio silence.....no computer access for a couple of days. Thanks for all the comments....I have spent the last couple of days looking at various options: Antares 36, Antares 12, Prestige 36, Sealine F43, F37 and a Phantom 38. The family conclusion is that the French...

    Considering buying my first flybridge.....

I would appreciate the opinion of the panel...... My previous boats have all been day boats or sportscruisers but now I've decided to purchase my first flybridge. As its my first FB boat I've decided to look at something around the 11-12 metre mark. Two boats that have caught my eye are the...

Mufflers or a 50 Gallon tank??

Hi, I'm about to recommission my sportscruiser and I'm wondering whether I would be better running the Bravo 3's on a pair of Muffler's and a hospipe or by filling a 50 gallon water tank that I have. I would leave the hose running to ensure the tank remains full. Which method will be more...

    Barnacle protection for outdrives....

I know this is a well discussed topic but having read dozens of threads about alternatives to painting outdrives I still can't decide which product to try next. My 2007 mercruiser outdrives have never been painted and consequently look almost as good as the day they left the factory, as do my...

    Bravo 3 rear prop nut....

This afternoon I decided to remove the props from my bravo 3 drives.....another infamous 5 minute job!! The port drive was easy and the duo props were removed in a matter of minutes. The starboard outdrive was a different matter..... Having applied loads of WD40 and as much pressure as I think...

    Bravo III Prop Anode....Threadlock?

I will be changing my Bravo 3 prop anodes very soon and the manual states they should be torqued to 19nm, it also recommends using Loctite 271 threadlock, which has a breakaway strength of 26nm. Loctite 271 is only available in the U.S. and therefore i'm wondering which UK available threadlock...
