It's basically a pre-curser to the Cobra 850, so not as well as a fin keel 850, but better than a Centaur.
It's a Feltham design so bags of space, well found and with some nice design touches.
I have the original design drawings if you're interested.
Funnily enough, until recently I had 14 fenders in my 28ft-er.
Post boat show I’ve now upgraded to 6 matching long ones, 2 balls and a slightly larger ‘roving’ fender.
As a single hander I tend to prep boats sides of the boat when arriving in a new marina, so that’s 4 fenders on each side...
Never be afraid to taste water in your boat - its a super quick way to identify an annoying situation from a life threatening one.
You don't have to do shots :p
Dip your finger in, flick off excess water and press your finger against the side of your tongue - your salt receptors are on the side...
Just had a look under the bunk. I appear to have a SHURflo 20psi diaphragm pump. The boat files show it was fitted in 2012.
I've owned her and lived aboard for the last 10 years and never had a problem with it - or indeed barely noticed it was there.
Seems like a solid product!
If it's fresh water its been getting in somewhere - not unusual on a 40+ year old boat. I'm on a rolling programme of resealing all the deck fittings on mine.
If its salt and been sat there all winter that's not ideal.
I'd question why the current owner hasn't cleaned it out?
Well you've got the very best type of boat
I've got an older Seago 240 Airdeck, so 2.4m and it fits perfectly on deck in front of the mast, whilst allowing movement around the foredeck. The 'nipples' of the sponsons straddle the mast. I was extremely lucky to get one of the old Hypalon...
My 28ft Cobra was owned by Neilson until 2012, having served with them (as Falcon holidays) since 1979. I think her last seasons were as a crew flotilla lead boat.
It’s a shame they’ve all gone to jumbo size boats now - the Med charter industry was built on Jaguars, Snapdragons and Cobras.
I have these exact steps and this is exactly what I did.
I slipped some M5 nuts over the stem of the rivet. Worked a treat.
I positioned mine about 1m from the mast head, which is thr perfect height for me to comfortably service/repair anything up the mast.
I only used 3 of the holes - it...
Oddly, I chose RG8x because it was easier to work with - Glomex's system has small diameter pre attached terminals so the routing holes are nice and small and there's a stronger connection at the mast head.
The VHFs I've installed recently from Standard Horizon and Garmin, in their instructions state that the maximum run of RG58 is 8 meters. On my 28ft boat the run from VHF to mast head was around 18m.
It would seem that RG58 will do, but that RG8x is better.
