Um apologies, but it's not clear which dimension is offset. I got caught once thinking a volvo impellor was symmetrical; but it wasn't. The pin was closer to one end than the other by... about a mill.
Fwiw I use a splash of white paint every 5 metres combined with coloured link inserts. Because I have the memory of a fruitfly (as do my crew!) I have stuck a laminated card saying what each colour represents on the locker lid - 1 red 5m, 1green 10m etc. Works fine, is foolproof and cheap.
I've moved my boat to NW England from where I hope to go cruising to Ireland, IoM, N Wales and West coast of Scotland - no more (I'll be quite pleased with that, in fact!) My liferaft is now at the end of its days - 2002 - so I *think* it's due for replacement. I'm currently considering whether...
Hmm, in response to answers here had the boat lifted yesterday for a racing scrub - actually, a racing scrape. Suprised the boat was able to move at all! In my defence, I can only say that when we moored in Cardiff Bay, we never saw a barnacle from one year to the next.
Just sayin' - I bought a gas soldering iron for about £40 from F4, as well as soldering it's surprisingly useful as a blow torch (heat shrink etc) and rope cutter...
My boat - a Bav 30 - has suffered a marked decline in motoring performance, from a cruising speed of c. 6 kn to 4kn. (I can't really comment on sailing performance because we haven't been out enough to assess ☹️)
The engine has been thoroughly checked - fuel quality and lines, air filter...
The three lights on my Bavaria 30 mast - anchor, steaming and deck - have started to play up (e.g. 2 come on at reduced intensity when only one has been switched on) and I have been advised to replace the 2 three core cables in the mast that power them. Two questions: what are the connectors to...
This is so reminiscent of Mountain Rescue threads. Whenever there's a high profile accident in the mountains, there is invariably a flurry of criticism and calls for MR to be government run ( curiously, against the prevailing trend to privatise .)
It's a nonsense. The idea of salaried staff...
Of course it's down to the individual on the day, but in my (quite extensive) experience of trade shows, trying to make and keep appointments is a complete no-no. Invariably if you fob off a browser who's wandered on to the stand, the person you were waiting for doesn't show up, and the browser...
Aluminium mast ladder - insert plastic lugs in the track of the mast, attach a halyard to the first and click each step into the one above to create a stable, temporary ladder up the mast. 26 sections each of 36cm . Good condition, rarely used - I prefer to use prusiks. £30
Galvanised CQR style anchor 12Kg - used but in good working condition. Reason for sale - I've changed my main anchor and this one is too big for my boat as a kedge. £25, Can be delivered to or collected from Whitehaven, Kendal, Manchester and all points in between.
