I have done similiar in:
Falmouth estuary, involved keeping the boat on a trailer in a boatyard and then launching and recovering when we used it
Helford Estuary - was able to rent a swinging mooring for a fortnight . THis of course required a rubber dinghy or similiar.
In both cases rented a...
Not very recent, but I was in a similiar situation in 2016. Having moved up in size/weight and from Tiller to wheel I moved the "New" ( but well used) boat from Hamble to Ipswich and my experience in berthing en route led me to immediately have the boat lifted out and Bow Thruster fitted. I...
I have looked at this in the past and realised that the quoted delivery charge is only part of the cost, which overall can easily double once you take into account:
Lift Out at starting port
Unship Mast
Load onto the lowloader
Offload from low loader at destination
Re-rig mast etc
Relaunch
VAT...
Interestingly I was anchored a bit down river last weekend for two nights and I didnt think the mud was as bad as I've seen it. Tide was flowing fairly strongly when I raised the anchor which may have helped. I found that the very frequent stops to remove seaweed was the bigger problem. I do...
I have a 15 litre can of white fully taxed diesel that has been sitting in my garage since 2019. Will it be OK to use, either in my boat engine (Volvo D2-40) or car engine Euro 6 compliant in a 2016 Mazda 6.
In other words does supermarket dioesel "go off" in the same way petrol would.
As title. Used maybe three times ie less than 10 hours. Dry stored at home in the winter. Being sold as these are now too large ( 1st mate has got smaller, salopettes remain the same size !) These are the "drop seat" variety with two zips, one on each side rather than a central zip. Equivalent...
He said - Autohelm 100.
When I bought mine it had the same very ancient unit fitted and I couldn't get it to work. I replaced it with a more modern unit like the one Paul Rainbow pictured, bought 2nd hand and everythying has worked much better. So unless wiring is a problem I suspect that the...
I had exactly the same concern and called the Henkel technical helpline, they assured me that the part trapped in the threads would go off and seal perfectly well despite the surplus squeezed out on assembly staying soft. I have subsequently used the same tube on threads within the raw water...
A couple of weeks ago at Fox's in Ipswich I saw a specially made trailer towed by an ordinary Pick-up delivering a mast of at least 12metres. Clever clever extending trailer arrangement and also vertically extending supports so that the mast was supported in 3 or 4 places.
I must admit my boat is a bit of a mess down below in the winter and I don't like staying on board on the hard so last spring I decided to reduce the number of day trips by staying overnight in a nearby Premier Inn. Much more comfortable and cost about the same as the fuel from home and back...
