Based in Tollesbury for 10 years from 2012 with a 21' bilge keel drawing just under a meter to now having a 31 Moody fin drawing 1.5 metres in Bradwell I pondered the same considerations you're now addressing.
While the following all have a lot going for them I'd rule out Brightlingsea for...
Appreciate the reply AntarticPilot. I'll probably try to get under the boat and slacken-off the cutter then make the journey facing the right way. Many thanks
I think you're absolutely right and have experienced what you describe on my previous boat ¼ the weight. Also some of the route will be in a wider channel more influenced by the wind making it much heavier going. I'll rethi k this and possibly shaken off the rope cutter by taking a dip over the...
In my ignorance of the forums layout I believed I hadn't yet posted - wasn't a nudge to elicit a quicker response.
And thanks for your contributions yesterday, appreciated.
Recently acquired Moody 31 Mk II, Volvo Penta 2003 28hp, Brunton H5 folding prop.
It's necessary to move my boat from one location to another 2 miles away. The route is mainly winding narrow river so not entirely suited to using sails. The graunching sound experienced when I'm in forward gear...
Not readily available and I'm quite taken with the idea of being able to inspect the hull underwater and perform tasks, rope removal around prop etc using an 8 minute 1 litre scuba tank and mask.
Good advice Refueler. If anyone's able to identify the manufacturer of the orange inspection/water seperator would be appreciated for replacement seal purposes otherwise I'll go with a non-oem.
@alahol2 you're absolutely right it is a water seperator - my error mis identifying. On closer inspection the rubber washer is hard and perished and replacement looks to be maintaining a tight seal. Than you for the response - great forum.
I've recently acquired a Moody 31 mk II with Volvo Penta 2003 28hp. The first stage fuel filter pictured with orange inspection bulb has a steady stream of fast moving bubbles that seem to eminate from the bottom drain screw when the engine is running. My question - is this normal ? The engine...
Having replaced the anode positioned at the rear of the Brunton prop ( three plastic bolts that expose the prop retaining nut when removed) when on dry land, I'm interested to know if this job could be done with the prop submerged without adversely effecting the prop.
Water ingress between the...
Recently aquired a Moody 31 Mk II and noticed a not-allarming but noticeable grinding sound when in gear on the pontoon. This noise goes away entirely in reverse. Volvo Penta with P bracket and rope-cutter fitted. Has a brand new cutlass bearing. Any thoughts would be welcome.
