Don't know about feral pigeons, but Popeye's grandad used to breed racing pigeons, and those that didn't make the grade ended up in the pot.

    Corfu town harbours

+1 for the yacht club. We walked from there to the airport to meet sister-in law (but cheated and got a taxi back). Much cheaper than Gouvia, but "facilities" fairly basic

EU <> Eurozone The EU certainly has jursisdiction over member states' taxes, in so far as any tax levied has to be applied to nationals / EU citizens alike.Hence the aborted Greek attempt to tax only non-Greek boats, and current Italian propsals to tax all boats. True, they could hike "kurtax"...

Now that Croatia is all set for EU admission, maybe things will change? I don't think they'll be able to maintain their cruising permit fees, but maybe the "kurtax" (just spent a weekend in Dunkirk, where "taxe de séjour was added to hotel bill). Customs regs? There are limits on quantity of vino and alcohol imported - have not seen evidence of control arriving by air or by car, but there again, it's difficult to get a cabin sized quantity of wine into a car boot!

Explanation of cultural differences..... information on Croatia please

We've "done" the whole coast from Pula to Dubrovnik over several seasons (2003-2010) We would not go back to the north - Kvarner/Kornati - not keen on lunar landscapes. Not to be missed, the waterfalls at Skradin, the ancient cities of Sibenik, Trogir, Split, Dubrovnik, the islands of Mjlet and...
