Morning Fred,
I would probably go to stage 1.1 with this yacht. Stage 1.1 for me would be trying to learn about the yachts back story and how it came to be where it is and in the condition it is. I bought an old 40' in need of TLC and it took a lot of work and time but it was worth it for me...
My sailing activities have swung a couple of opinions during interviews. If you cannot get the sikaflex off, you could try using it as a badge of honour to establish your sailing credentials.
Although if your interviewer is not aware of sailing and sikaflex it might backfire.
FWIW x3.
I think that was true in the 80s, but even since the 90s when I back packed though the home of fake things, S.E. Asia (On a shoestring for those who know), most Rolex fakes costing about £10-20 were automatic with a sweeping hand even then.
A fake automatic watch will not keep better...
I had a tour in Gosport too, although more in Dee Caffari's time with Aviva. There were quite a lot of the ex BT Challenge round the world racing yachts in Clarence at that time. The crew quarters always struck me as torturous. Scaffolding bars amongst bare GRP in the forepeak. Going to be v...
Super fakes are even fooling some experienced sellers, and only when the watch gets to Rolex is it found to be a fake. That is how good the super fakes are, but they probably cost £500+
I did consider changing one of my watches for a different model via a second hand watch seller. The reality...
10+ yrs ago. I did mine at Birdham Pool, which is a lovely unspoiled, charming yard with good services/trades last time I looked. It is only a v short walk through to Premier at Chichester with it's facilities, bars etc.
Also stayed onboard, on the hard at Port Solent whilst anti-fouling (40')...
P.s. I used to like going to the supermarket in Kalamos, where a lot of the stock was in one big bag on a table, and the owner would root through the bag and offer something similar to that which you asked for. Charming, old world, like Greece used to be <1990s.
Morning Gixer,
Thanks for your reply.
It sounds like you are well set, you know what kind of yacht you want, where to go :) It is such a good way to spend a holiday isn't it ?
I was a 15 year old on my first Greek flotilla with much the same attitude as some of your crew members. Needless to...
Morning Gixer,
A few comments/thoughts from an ex-Ionian bareboat skipper.
First, great idea. You know the area a bit, it is one of the safest and easiest areas I have sailed in, so seemingly perfect for a family holiday. Alas, light winds as you probably know are a bit of a downside, and...
Boats will be damp.
+1 professional survey. Yes, can be a bit superfluous at times, telling you that the patch of mould might mean damp, or that because it is >30 years old the rigging might need redoing. Yes. We can figure that stuff out mostly for ourselves. But there are certainly times when...
A lot of google satellite/world areas have had the cars removed as well. I was looking somewhere the other day and no cars anywhere.
There are some really strange "artefacts" in the deep blue water as well, but usually just products of the digital process.
If it was me I would go for older but higher quality, something like Najad, Oyster, Lots of very good reasons. Moody too as already mentioned. There is always a market for such yachts and they tend to last longer in better condition than the more mid-cost yachts.
I sailed a 39'11.5 single...
RT usually designates a resistor(thermal) on a PCB AFAIK.
If anyone else has the same unit and is willing to take a look and a close up pic, you might find you can get the part for pennies. Soldering it on to the PCB would simply be a case of getting the direction right, only two pins as long as...
