Info please-
After an epic tip to see a tired old boat in Ipswich, I've got another couple to possibly view, Sunderland and Dartmouth.
The Dart one has to be removed when sold so I'd be looking for a low cost (yes, it's the Dart..) berth for it until the spring.
Bilge keels so...
Thanks, all.
The boat was viewed this morning. No further action. The pics must have been years old. The search for that bilge keeler for not a lot anywhere in the UK continues.
Hi Paul, you make some good points. I do want a pontoon berth with some security, I don't need EHU.
After Preston with a day only lock and 14nm to the fairway buoy, Ipswich or similar isn't an issue
I'm viewing a low value bilge keel yacht for sale in Ipswich ( I know, I know....)
I'd like people with local knowledge to share the pros and cons of possible berthings for 6/12 months.
Costs/access/friendliness/services etc.
Thank you-
I can;t comment on the currents needed to be handled but I used a garage door zapper to control my autohelm, it cost £12

Hence the conservative 15A fuse.
Reading the thread and Kelpie's thoughts-
"Another option, which I've not tried, is to fit lithium in parallel with a lead acid battery. I'm not aware that anybody in the forum has tried this but it is quite a tempting idea.:
I'm experimenting doing just that, but camper based. I've 200w solar...
I sold Benita in September as the mooring fees came due after a summer of dreadful weather and just three trips to sea .
I experienced a sense of lightness and relief.
This has not stopped my daily persusal of boats for sale...

I went there three weeks ago. Despite some old poor reviews, the marina staff were very efficient welcoming and helpful.
The lock arrangements are a little confusing, re. fees and night time access, make sure you have booked with ?Craig.
Visit My Harbour mentions the Rock Channel as locals only...
I'm passage planning/pilotage from Preston to Brunswick Dock, Marina.
Both have daytime only limitations on locking (avoiding a £60 fee for Liverpool)
6t long keel 1.5m draft
Plan A- depart Preston early doors after mooring outside the lock the tide before. (Preferred option, I know the river...
The AIS is direct from vessels transmitting on VHF, received by a black box and then wi-fi-ed to the Navionics device. (I use Quark) No phone signal involved
