    Shurflo variable speed freshwater pumps

I need to replace my freshwater pump, had a variable speed water pump on previous boat which worked well (Jabsco can not remember model) Shurflo 5.7 Extreme series smart sensor seems to fit the bill, but get's slated on West Marines customer reviews. Anybody in this country got any experience...

There is a new owner at the helm - same excellent chef and staff, but a few changes in hand. Worth revisiting, even if crossed off your list previously......

    Hammerite on alloy?

I've got a Seldon electric in mast furling system. The casing is starting to corrode under the paint finish in places. I was thinking of rubbing down and de-greasing, and then using hammerite. Has anyone used Hammerite on alloy on the exterior of a boat, does it stand up to the salty...

    Customs in Jersey.....

Ref. passport - a good idea, since leaving UK Territorial Waters, but possibly photographic ID would be enough. We always err on the side of caution, as you may gather, and carry the paperwork for every eventuality, leaving copies at home.

    Customs in Jersey.....

Officially should leave Part 1 of C1331 in UK Customs box before leaving UK. No forms in Jersey now for EU residents, but if you have animals on board (ONLY from UK) you need to declare them either in St Helier or Gorey before landing them, even if then anchoring off - and confined to the...

    Landing dogs in France??

PS onerous vet examination? Yes, a quick glance, maybe (should be) temperature, squirt of Frontline, stab of Droncit/chuck down of Drontal, scribble in a Passport. Oh, forgot, check microchip. Yes, exhaustive.

    Landing dogs in France??

One of the advantages of being an island, although we seem to have forgotten that. Or we could just agree that Mad Dogs ARE Englishmen, or vice versa - which will be the case if we allow rabies (& a shed load of other nasties) into our environs. Ref. Grehan (isn't that what tables are...

    Landing dogs in France???

See liveaboard reply. No problems leaving here & entering France in practice, as you have a Passport, which is all they require (only actually needs rabies shot for entry, not all the blood-sampling validation required for UK return). Probably some Official somewhere should be interested in...

    Landing dogs in France??

Don't think anyone cares going out, the rigmarole is coming back (registered carriers, portal entry, tick & tapeworm etc). We have some friends who take their cat the same route with no problems. Remember to keep the Passport valid with rabies shots down route if necessary, no leeway at all on...
