....and the yacht well prepared. Additionally the crew would race to win (they might also enjoy themselves but the focus was on winning).
Why else race - unless you race to win.

Hope springs eternal. :)
You are correct PBO is a marvellous medium - but it requires the participants who use the technology to be prepared to contribute - and be a bit more sympathetic to the questions. A bit more support and less sarcasm and criticism would go a long way.

I am reminded of a recurring thought
- the Duogen offers two mechanisms to produce electricity. Its a clever idea, though as Geem mentions, not too well engineered. WattnSea recognising the impressive electricity product of a hydro generator and are a power source of choice for ocean racers...
WattnSea are magic - but costly (as said) and are only useful if the water or the yacht move ie anchor where there is strong tidal flow or make reasonable passages.
WnS are not much use if you are sitting in an ideal tropical anchorage (which is the location of many liveaboards).
The best...
There is currently no data, at all, (or nothing I have seen) on an all electric galley. Historically most people use gas and don't use Lead. I confess I don't know how to convert gas usage (and its wastefulness) to use of, say, an induction hob. I can find no basis to devise what might be a...
Catamarans don't even bother with toe rails, whether molded, wood or an aluminium alloy. Why do you need a toe rail when reaching at an average of 10 knots - and sailing flat. :)

I was going to develop a spreadsheet based on Geem's last thread, house bank size vs solar display size for the various respondents but realised this was not too useful in itself - the spreadsheet needed more data, the worst case scenario. Which is actually occurring on Pittwater now (in sunny...
In Australia one of the fears underlining Lithium uptake, or lack of uptake, in cars is the fear of there not being sufficient re-charging facilities. Its a big country, 1,000km between capital cities is 'normal'.
I see the advantage of Lithium in yachts, more amps for your kg (and Lithium...
I have not used a Gori prop for well over 25 years. But back then the prop was secured with a nut and split pin (I think it was a tessellated nut with a hole in the shaft). The easiest way to clean the prop was take it off. If you do take the prop off use a new pin each time The pins are...
There is more to a test sail than .... the test sail
Don't misunderstand - the best way to see if there are any leaks - from whatever source is to see it sitting in the water (and vice versa). How else do you find out if the shaft or sail drive leaks. Others may not be concerned about such...
You cannot be alone with your issues, speak to other owners - how do they cope.
The device at the mast head is there, for reasons already explained, and my exposure was on Etchells. I'd try to work with what you have got - and not try to invent a new wheel (with problems no-one else has).
Is...
To me, if the yacht is not available in the water with its mast rigged, I'd walk. There is plenty of choice. I'd also expect to be able for me, or better, my surveyor to examine the yacht out of the water.
A lot of second hand, not third and 6th hand, yachts have sails that are hardly...
