Hi John,
Just seen this post - I've replied to your message with the info that I have.
(Hi the NW mob - 1st post for a looooong time, been some bad news over the last couple of years, I see :( )
Hello again - long time no post...
Selling off my remaining boating gear: I bought this engine new in 2005, it was used infrequently until 2008, then stored in my garage., so it has had very little use for an engine of this age. It starts and runs well, and has no problems that I'm aware of...
Garmin 76Cx with genuine Mapsource Bluechart Atlantic 9.5 unlocked charts for the EU004 area
£125 + £8.55 P&P if needed
Linky
Sold the boat, so no further use for it.
Happy to meet up in N. Wales if it helps - please don't buy through ebay if you want to pay on collection.
I had a DSC alert go through from a VHF on a dummy load at home, about 20 miles from their nearest aerial (but line of sight). They also managed to transmit with enough power for the set to receive voice, too.
I doubt that a short in the aerial coax would stop DSC getting out, but bet it would...
After your boat gets craned in, and you've done the rounds checking for leaks, close the heat exchanger drain before starting the engine and motoring over to your berth.

Does this mean you had (effectively) zero speed through the water? i.e drifting with the tide?
If so, I got caught out like that myself once (in a much more modest boat) - I thought I was going a decent speed up a river estuary, went to turn up-tide to pick up a mooring, but found I had no...
I made many 3 -4 kg lead castings with plaster moulds in my mis-spent youth (for RC yacht keels). Sand moulds are a bit different, as they are porous, so the steam can get out without sending the metal before it.
Damp lead:

Damp mould...
Seriously !?
Anything you use for melting / casting needs to be bone dry or you risk a steam explosion spraying molten lead at you - or at the very best, porosity in the casting.
Just in case it's anyone here ...
I noticed that lien notices had been posted on several boats the last time I was at Port Dinorwic:
Ana Sira ~30' Bilge keel
Martlet ~25' Fin keel
Tender Touch - Falcon mobo
Supachic - Ocqueteau mobo
+ another whose name I couldn't make out
I'm not sure...
