    Bank Holiday weekend...

Yes, not looking good. I had hoped to get out this week but cancelled due to the river being back on reds

    Heading into the Thames

To simplify oldgits answer: The Thames is tidal to Teddington. Where the tide turns depends on your speed and how far you get before that happens. You would have to be cruising at about 3 knots or less, over the ground, for the tide to change before you get to Teddington. Given the strength of...

Rumours of Thames Clubs not going to St kats over Easter ?

I was just looking at St Kats Vs Limehouse. Anyone had recent experience of Limehouse? It looks like the lock is operated by the CRT, can one go in without a CRT licence? plus I’m struggling to find berthing fees.

    Chertsey Lock

That’s good news. All we need now is for the rain to stop 😄

When’s the latest your season has started?

Same here. We used to enjoy trips out in the winter but these last two years have been too wet. It was May last year before we got out, I’ve got my fingers crossed for April this year, but we shall see.

    HVO for inland water ways.

A green light suggests it being approved for use. Price is another issue. Yes it’s more expensive than diesel and you can’t claim a tax rebate for the portion used for heating. But for those of us that care about the environment and are prepared to pay more to be greener, that’s not an issue

    HVO for inland water ways.

I wasn’t aware HVO needed a green light for use. It’s already available on the Thames in central London.

    up-to-date pump out facilities?

I’m surprised you would need a pump out on a two week trip.

    back on Reds !

It’s been the wettest spring I can remember. We’ve managed two day trips so far this year, when normally we would have been out at every opportunity. Today, 12/05/23, the forecast is looking drier for the next week. So fingers crossed.

    Lead carbon batteries.

I replaced my 2 old flooded led acid 120ah batteries with a single Victron 170ah Lead Carbon AGM three years ago. I have an old engine which is running the original 50amp alternator. The battery has worked great and I’ve never had any alternator problems. I also have a Victron smart shunt so...
