    Staying Sane?

[ As if things weren't bad enough, wasn't there some suggestion that Tetley had to press his boat harder when he found DC on his tail? Yes, Tetly would probably have made it all the way without the extra stress he put on his boat trying to 'outrun' DC. Haven't got to grips with this quote...

    Calling All Liveaboard Folk!

The main cost of the average house in the UK is in the 'land', not the 'bricks and mortar'. Have just sold my 'bricks and mortar' to liveaboard and chill-out, just like Captainslarty.

    Disposing of old fuel

2stroke is oil and 'Cats' hate oil. They can even get ruined with unburnt petrol, so if your car doesn't fire up and you keep turning the engine over it could be the end of your 'Cat'. Unless you've run out of petrol that is. Another good reason not to push start a 'Cat' car. Also once read...

    What is a jester?

I have the greatest respect for the 'Jesters' and may even enter myself , but I don't think the event has enough Kudos to attract big sponsers. It is what it is because it of the type of people that enter it. If the 'wrong' type enter with sponsorship and win, they will look like bullies. If...

Removing Antifoul Wet or Dry how Toxic is it?

I did hear on the radio only a few months ago that an higher than average rate of Parkinsons was found in Farmers exposed to Pesticides and by Boaters who had removed Antifoul. No exposure figures were given, but no doubt further 'Googling' will reveal all .

    Being seen ...

Would I be right in thinking that a steel vessel would 'show up' better than Wood or GRP ?

Being Seen What about a chaff type flare for emergencies, could be used from a life-raft as well to attract a rescue !?

    Tile protector

You can buy a heat mat used for protection while soldering copper fittings from your local DIY shop. They are only about 10"x10" .

    Buoyancy

Also inner tubes could be used as emergency/temporary measure to reduce cockpit volume and increase buoyancy.

    Buoyancy

I have thought about using inner tubes (available in loads of sizes and cheap ) which could be fixed on bulk-heads or inside cupboards etc, and attached via soft pipework to a cylinder.
