    32s5 or sigma 33ood

I don´t know if this is still interesting or not but I´ll give you my two cents. I now that there, in your country, a Sigma might win the contest, but seeing it from a neutral point of view (I´m Spanish) I can give you my opinion. Here where I sail, South Spain, I own a First 32s5 and there...

STIX and other measures of seaworthiness

Hi SawDoc, I currently own a First 32s5, deep fin in South Spain. I have a friend who is close friend of one worker at Berret-Racopeau Design, who drew the First 32s5. I asked them for all the info about this boat, included the Stix, and sent to me a lot of data. They even calculated the Stix...

    Seajet 033 antifoul

As Edmund says (Hi Edmund, I´m Manuel) Seajet is one of the best antifoulings you can use, up there in your cold waters or here, in the Med. It is a high density paint with a high ratio of copper and other biocide particles per gramme of paint, so it does a lot of stirring. As far as I know...

What instruments do you have onboard?

That´s not the way to proceed my friend. An EPIRB is something to use when lifes and boat are in extreme danger. To move a lifeboat just for a can of diesel or to tow you just because there´s no wind is extremely unpolite. Lifeboats and lifemen are not there to do the kind of things you say.

Beneteau First vs Oceanis - what are the differences?

I have own three First series and one Oceanis. I can tell you that basically the difference is in the rig and the appendixes. It is true that the hulls of some first are unique and not shared with the Oceanis range, but in generall they are shared, so what Beneteau does is to change the design...

NASA AIS ENGINE to Garmin GPSMAP 520. WIRING AND BAUDS

Perfect then, because the grey wire is the NMEA IN wire for the second port in the chartplotter. But I still have a doubt: if I connect the NMEA Ground on the AIS to the power ground (DC negative), where do I connect the negative wire of the AIS? To the same negative as the AIS ground wire??

NASA AIS ENGINE to Garmin GPSMAP 520. WIRING AND BAUDS

Good afternoon, recently I purchased a NASA AIS Engine to install with my chartplotter Garmin GPSMap 520. I have connected everything as said in the instructions, but I have a doubt about the transmitting bauds. My plotter offer me two types of connections, being the first one a "nmea device...

    Spanish boatyards

You can anchor inside Torrevieja for as long as you wish, as long as you dont invade the swiming area (marked with bouyes). You can always take your tender and go ashore, living it in the marina (they normally don´t charge you anything). Mazarrón is pretty nice too, better sourroundings and...

    Spanish boatyards

Hi Stroker, I don´t know about Valencia, but if you sail to the south, like 100 miles, you will find Torrevieja, where you can do it much cheaper and do your own work. And if you go still more to the South, (South of Murcia) in Mazarrón, you can have one week out of the water, crane included and...

NASA marine supernova led tricolor in use?

I had them installed in my previous boat, but as the pal said, I never was out of my boat to see the lights from far away. However, last summer I had the chance to sail with my new boat next to my previous boat. When they went away, like four or five miles away from my position, the NASA lights...

HOw to dissolve oily carbon goo in exhaust elbow

By the way, one question about this issue. When you remove the elbow to clean it, do you have to change the gastket before installing it again? Thanks from the Med.

Advice on a battery charger please

Sterling chargers are excellent value. Moreover they are powerpacks, so once the battery is charged properly (UIUO stages) it will serve as a power pack to feed all your instruments without over charging your batteries.
