Great service

Just wanted to share this with the rest of the forumites.. I purchased an Isotherm Magnum ASU unit 2 years ago which has served me wonderfully. recently the control unit packed it in, basically through a fault of one of my guests aboard. Nevertheless, the unit was replaced, no cost, overnight...

    Refrigeration

Re: A cheap solution I have the ASU isotherm for 3 years now and hasn't failed me once! Use the seawater cooled variant in te med and no problems. I use the water in the watertank for the cooling, saves on extra holes in the boat and all this galvanic problems!

    Marieholm 26

Hi, My father owned one for 12 years. The M26 are wonderful boats! Reliable, well built, fast (over 6.5 knots not an exception), stable (but heeling a fair bit) and will weather anything. We travelled around the Northsea in winds up to force 8 without any problems ever. No Osmosis problems in...

    Let's suppose

Re: Not quite true. Thanks, I was just about to ask if anyone knew of a case where it WASN'T treated and what the results where after some time... My boat was done, peeled, gelshielded the works 1988, since we have her in the Med things started to deteriorate. Would just drying out for a couple...

    Let's suppose

Let\'s suppose that one had a GRP sailing yacht, built in the old days when little was known on that material and hence it turned out in inch-thickness rather than couple of milimeters. Suppose also that said boat now slowly developed something not entirely dissimilar to osmosis... What would...

    how old is classic

How GRP is classic I sort of raised the same question on SB it seems.. so: What's the chance that GRP boats will reach classic status? Not that I'm desperate to rub shoulders with the high and mighty but would be nice to partoicipate in the occasional gathering

    What makes a classic?

Re: classics I'm convinced it is! I just wonder when/if the 'classic-event organisers' etc are going to acknowledge that a GRP boat can be a classic too. Saw that Antigua Classic week, one of the first if these classic event organisers, has separate GRP division, as did the Yachting Monthly...

    What makes a classic?

yep, affirmative on most points.. Not for sale though, so apparently that's the only thing keeping me from attaining classic status?

    What makes a classic?

May be not then You are probably quite right, and seems most others replies point in the same direction. Still, I would have liked to participate in such events if only to see how well/poor we can do against the opposition. And it is strange to see 1978 boats be accepted just because they...

    What makes a classic?

Just wondering, as I ve been turned down now by a number of Classic clubs/regattas.. My boat is from 64, Bill Tripp CCA design, a real beauty (IMHO) but... built in GRP which apparently rules out any classic status immediately. Any thoughts?

    Pilot Boats

Try the Cannes anchorage. City of Cannes has a special Bayliner type runabout capable of 35 knots blasting through the anchorage at full pelt to enforce the speed limits, charging after jetskis etc

    Deckshoes loosing grip

The strange thing is that it only seems to happen to the tan-brown type of 'hardish' sole. The more soft white soles (on my wifes Dubarry and on cheap French brand) have no problem at all it seems. I'll try to clean them thorougly and see what that brings

    Deckshoes loosing grip

Dubarry's were actually older, about a year. But also with minimal wear on the soles. Deck is teak and no changes to that lately;-) jeroen

    Deckshoes loosing grip

I have now experienced this happening from 2 different brands, Dubarry and Sebago. The one week they are fine, offering all the non slip characteristics one requires, the next week there is NO non-slip left on dry decks..moisten them a bit and there is some grip but the condition invariably...
