    Volvo Penta Trim pump problems

Hi, the compression springs are replaceable and adjustable (for pressure) independently. Just a faff to get it set correctly as you have to keep taking the reservoir off, adjusting the pressure on the spring and putting back together again. I'd start by taking a good spring (count the # of...

KAD 42 alternator / rev counter issue

Alternator houses the transducer for rev counter.... Swap port and stbd alternators. If fault transfers, it's the alternator. If not, it's the wiring. Might find you mend the fault if it's an earthing problem on one of the alternator wires... Just had one that was fine to 2,500 revs, then rev...

Priming engine after fuel filter change

I would like to make a comment ref 'cracking' injectors on diesels. Whilst this is commonplace and common practice on older diesels, the VP books say don't even attempt this on a common rail diesel.... I presume there is a very high pressure diesel vaporising issue (as there is a lot of diesel...

Is this safe - Sterndrive on drying mooring?

You're going to have to do something to raise the transom. Not safe like it is. The boat will be pushing the rams out of the end of their cylinders You need at least 4" by the looks of it, so carpet isn't going to work.. A bit of rail sleeper tied across in the same manner as the carpet...

    Kad 32 outdrive shift cable

If the ferrule 'pulled out' of the catch, you would want to see what damage has been done to the catch, so I'd say not worth the effort while afloat, but beached is a distinct possibility. Be prepared to take gear cover off to check nothing is bent/come loose, then be prepared to remove the...

    Volvo 290 dps Help

Hi Enterprise, Suggest you get the crane at Torbay Seaways to lift you ASAP. Have the servicing engineer present. If this issue was not present prior to service, could well be un-tightened filler above gear changer or missing o-ring around lower drain plug. One of my drives lower to upper unions...

    New little Rib Sealine SX70

I took her down the river to run her up (putting fuel down the bores) whist running I didn’t see any water coming out of the exhaust, should there be? I would have thought so. ======>Yes there should - from memory it's a 'back pressure' hose take-off in the pump/impeller housing - Think you...

    New little Rib Sealine SX70

Hopefully caused by bad earth to the electronic ignition (starter taking all the juice).. if not, could be the ignition unit itself... good luck! Remember this a 2 stroke. Mine has a weird oil pump on the front of the engine. Stick oil in the petrol if you are not sure whether this...

    New little Rib Sealine SX70

Hi Spotty, My son has one. Definitely a 'project boat' this. There's always something to tinker with, but great fun when they're running!! He's had it for 4 years. There are some threads on here ref this boat. Engine is a 2SI (Two Stroke International) - US. haven't found a source for spares...

    sterndrive noise again

If you mean drive trimmed right in hard, then there may be a little more noise as it's hard up against the stops. Trim it out a little. If it stops, it's purely your drive has hit the limit and the wave pushed it hard in.

    Volvo outdrive ram seals

Hi, It's me that wrote the original thread. Yes, straightforward to change the seals yourself. I did get mine from Pirtek. Take the piston in and they will do all the measuring. Take my part numbers in aswell for back-up. Parts are available for pick-up within 5 days, but it you're stuck, they...

    Channel Islands Crossing tomorrow!

Looks like Thursday won't work, but Friday morning might, but you'll have to contend with the Westerly fetch over the past couple of days........ Saturday looks calmer all day. Good luck!

    Channel Islands Crossing tomorrow!

As someone has said above, as you leave tomorrow, it'll probably seem OK, but mid channel could be up to 20mph NW'ly: http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ Then you've got the choice of carrying on with a longer fetch or returning into a slap. Weds and Thurs look OK, but Friday's blowing up again, so...

    Channel Islands Crossing tomorrow!

Wind's gone NW'ly here in Torbay now.... Quiet with drizzle. Same where you are I'd guess. So a quiet start. 2.3ft waves at mid channel light. Still Southerly 15knots mid-channel and showers mid channel. f'cast NW backing W 4-5 decreasing 4 over the next 3 days. Shipping and inshore waters talk...
